The exciting AMA Pro SuperSport class will show the world just how bright the future is for American motorcycle racing with another race in this year’s AMA Pro SuperSport Championship at the July 23-25, 2010 Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix event at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.
The suburb north of LA is normally home to a lot of television and film production and star sightings are commonplace, but on Tuesday it was teeming with motorcycle racers… Fiat Yamaha’s championship leader Jorge Lorenzo, Monster Tech 3 Yamaha riders Ben Spies and Colin Edwards; Yamaha legends Kenny Roberts Sr., Eddie Lawson, and Wayne Rainey – even AMA Superbike championship leader Josh Hayes and Ben Bostrom were all spotted in the nondescript warehouse district near Burbank’s Bob Hope Airport – not a typical transfer point on the way to Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.
Hot off the heals of an exciting weekend at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, the AMA Pro National Guard SuperBike series will once again take to the track for the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix weekend at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, July 23-25. The battle for this year’s championship is up for grabs but two riders in particular laid claim to the title at last weekend’s Mid-Ohio race.
After a weekend that saw the points chase break wide open, AMA Pro Daytona SportBike presented by AMSOIL rolls into Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in conjunction with the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix which is one of two appearances for MotoGP in the United States.
Valentino Rossi is officially entered to ride in the sixth annual Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca July 23-25.
“We were very concerned for Valentino after his accident in Italy,” said Gill Campbell, CEO/general manager for Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. “But it is like Christmas to hear that he will once again be challenging the Corkscrew this year. We are thrilled for him.”
LCR Honda MotoGP racer Randy de Puniet was the victim of an awful incident of bad luck at the Grand Prix Deutschland this weekend as he fractured the tibia and fibula in his left leg in a crash during yesterdays 30 lap race at the German track.
The Fiat Yamaha Team flies west today for the first North American stop of the season, at Laguna Seca in California. With Jorge Lorenzo leading the championship and Valentino Rossi back in action after six weeks out through injury, the team is in high spirits and looking forward to what is always a favourite race for all involved.

Yamaha and GE Capital are proud to announce that they will be adding another event to the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix weekend as Yamaha MotoGP Riders Colin Edwards, Ben Spies and Jorge Lorenzo and Yamaha legends Eddie Lawson, Wayne Rainey and Kenny Roberts will meet their fans for an up close question and answer session during a live music set on stage on Saturday July 24 at 6:00 p.m.
