Grueling Six Hour Endurance Race Puts Drivers to the Test
It’s another six hours into the darkness at famed Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca when the American Le Mans Series returns for the ModSpace American Le Mans Monterey, Presented by Patrón September 16-18.
Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca is one of four race tracks to have hosted an American Le Mans Series event in each of its 12 seasons. The Series features “five races within a race” with multiple classes of high-tech sports cars competing together in each race – a dynamic which offers constant passing and on-track battles throughout. The six hour endurance race takes competitors from daylight, to dusk and into the darkness, pushing drivers’ and crews’ mental and physical abilities.
“With multiple driver changes, speed variations between the classes and the overall challenge of endurance racing, American Le Mans offers plenty of action for fans,” says Gill Campbell, Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca CEO/General Manager.
Several support races including the Cooper Tire Prototype Lites Championship, GT3 and IMSA GT3 Cup Challenges by Yokohama and Pirelli World Challenge provide a constant source of on-track activity throughout the weekend. Off-track offerings include tech talks, autograph sessions, grid walk, fan party and children’s play area.
