This past weekend, Sonoma’s Infineon Raceway staged the second
Ferrari Racing Days of the season, the first in North America,
providing the perfect backdrop to a special event that saw over
four hundred Ferrari owners take to the track. Providing further
excitement were the Ferrari Challenge races and sessions for
those entered in the F1 and XX programmes, who were able to drive
their own cars, under the guidance of engineers from the Corse
Clienti department and instructors, including the Scuderia’s Marc
Gene.
As Ferraris challenge the race track May 18-20 for Ferrari Racing
Days, owners of the prancing horse may take their place alongside
them in the paddock with the new Ferrari Car Corral.
Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca’s Car Corral experience includes two
three-day general admission and paddock tickets with open
grandstand seating, two souvenir programs and exclusive premium
parking in the paddock with other Ferraris, all for just $75.
“We are inviting Ferrari owners to join in on the fun of this
exhilarating single marquee race series,” says Gill Campbell,
CEO/general manager of Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. “Ferrari
enthusiasts will have their own spot in the paddock amidst the
action of Ferrari Racing Days.”
The series allows owners and gentleman drivers seeking to sharpen
their skills to compete against each other on some of the finest
race tracks in the U.S. and Canada. The vehicles have the same
overall appearance and engine as road-going Ferraris while
utilizing track-oriented modifications and features.
Ferrari 458s will compete against their predecessor the F430s in
the Ferrari Challenge. There will also be separate 599XX and FXX
races. The highlight of the weekend might just be the F1 Clienti
races, where the high pitch whine of these extraordinary machines
reverberates through the race track and surrounding hillside.
There is a nothing like the sound of an F1 tearing down the
straightaway.
The new Ferrari Corse Clienti racing season will get under way on
18 March at the Japanese circuit of Suzuka with the year’s first
Ferrari Racing Days. This special event will not only host the
inaugural round of the Ferrari Challenge Asia Pacific, but offer
the Asian public the chance to see together on track the main
non-competitive activities offered by the Maranello company,
among them the exclusive XX and F1 Clienti programmes.
