The Sports Car Club of America has announced the host sites of the next three SCCA® National Championship Runoffs®, including the first visit for amateur road racing’s top event to Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in 2014. Daytona International Speedway, in 2015, and Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, in 2016, will also hold events over the next three years.
The return to the west coast and Monterey’s Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca comes 50 years after the inaugural event at Riverside in 1964. The event alternated between Riverside and Daytona for six years.
Comedian and car enthusiast Adam Carolla returns to Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca this year to compete in the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion, a cornerstone of the Monterey Peninsula’s Classic Car Week. Driving his 1988 Nissan 300ZX, Carolla will be featured in race group 6B.
Carolla will also display his more humorous, off-track talents as he and Dr. Drew Pinsky team-up at the Sunset Center in Carmel on August 16 at 8 p.m. for a live performance of their popular show, Loveline. To purchase tickets for the performance, visit www.sunsetcenter.org.
