Yancey’s Fancy Becomes the Official Cheese of Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca
The race track that is set amidst the rolling hills of Monterey County wine country and adjacent to the fertile fields of the Salinas Valley has added to its gourmet partnerships with Yancey’s Fancy, a New York-based gourmet cheese maker.
“We’ve had success at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in the past through our affiliations with American Le Mans and GRAND-AM Road Racing,” said Mike Wimble, executive vice-president of sales and marketing at Yancey’s Fancy. “This is just the next logical step after everything we’ve seen over the past couple years. They’re doing some fantastic things at the track and we’re happy to officially partner with Mazda Raceway.”
Yancey’s has been involved in motorsports for several years, starting with the American Le Mans and GRAND-AM Road Racing series. This year, in addition to Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, they have partnerships with Watkins Glen International and Phoenix International Raceway.
Since 1947 the Yancey’s Fancy cheese factory has been producing hand-crafted cheeses, with a variety of over 40 different flavors which can be found at many retail stores nationwide; as well as through Kutter’s Cheese House in Corfu, New York. Estabilished in 1957, Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca has been operated since its inception by the Sports Car Racing Association of the Monterey Peninsula (SCRAMP), a not-for-profit 501c(4) corporation. Each race season, SCRAMP donates its net proceeds to the volunteer groups that help organize the races.
