Twilight Cycling Rolls into Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca February 16
Open to Families and Pros Alike 5:30 – 7:30 p.m.
One of the more popular community events held at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca is the monthly Twilight Cycling Ride, which gives rare access to the 2.238-mile undulating road course. This month, for a low entry fee of $10, cyclists of all ages can hit the track on Wednesday, February 16 from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m.
No prior experience is necessary to ride and cyclists will have the opportunity to go where racing legends typically speed by. The Twilight is informal and helmets are required
If threatening weather cancels the February 16 Twilight Ride, it will be rescheduled for Wednesday February 23 at 5:30 p.m. A media alert will be distributed by 9 a.m. on Wednesday, February 16 if the weather is inclement. Cyclists may also call the main office at (831) 242-8201 for further information.
The raceway’s counter clockwise course provides cyclists with a real challenge, as it has an elevation range of 749 to 929 feet with the track width ranging from 30 to 50 feet.
Light & Motion (bicycle lights) will be on site to assist those with lights to borrow for the Twilight Ride. Light & Motion has been pioneering state-of-the-art portable lighting systems for 20 years. In 2008 Light and Motion launched a new line of LED bicycle lights, the lightest, brightest and most reliable lights available worldwide. Light and Motions products are designed and built locally on the Monterey Peninsula.
Upcoming 2011 Twilight Rides are March 16, April 12, May 18, June 15, July 20, August 10, September 14, October 19, November 16 and December 14. The April Twilight will be the Tuesday before the Sea Otter Classic, providing cyclists valuable track time to preview the course before the weekend’s races.
