Phil Remington – 1921-2013
Modest, outspoken, proud, enthusiastic and a wicked sense of humor, Phil Remington was a highly respected fabricator, engineer and chief tinkerer who could make anything go faster.
Phil was behind the scenes in so many momentous occasions. He helped the Shelby Cobra team with international wins, having been in the pits for Dan Gurney and AJ Foyt’s victory at Le Mans, which is considered Ford Motor Company’s greatest win. He was instrumental in Gurney Eagles’ domination in the Indy car scene, Bobby Unser’s Indy 500 win in a car that Phil helped to build at All American Racers, as well as being there at the Daytona 24 Hours, Sebring and Watkins Glen when the GTO and GTP Eagles started their winning streaks.
Phil was a frequent visitor to Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca over the years and will be sorely missed.
