Pedal Power with ALMS Drivers
Help Kick-off the Race Weekend on Pedal Power with the Drivers
Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca announced that the drivers from the American Le Mans Series, Cooper Tires Prototype Lites Championship, the Patrón GT3 Challenge by Yokohama, USF2000, the Star Mazda Championship presented by Goodyear and Playboy Mazda MX5 Cup teams will be on track – but on bicycles to kick-off American Le Mans Series Monterey presented by Patrón. The Twilight Ride will take place on Wednesday, May 19 from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. on the world-renowned circuit and fans are invited to join them.
The American Le Mans series celebrates the 12th season of world-class car racing and for the first time ever, it will be a six-hour endurance race, bringing the magic and mystique of Le Mans to Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. The fastest drivers will get to test their pedal worthiness before they take to the 2.238-mile course on four-wheels. Tentatively scheduled to ride are Jan Magnussen, driver of the No 3 Compuware Corvette C6.R and Corvette Racing program manager Doug Fehan, along with BMW Rahal Letterman’s Joey Hand.
The charity bike ride will be free to all ticket holders for the American Le Mans Series Monterey presented by Patrón and $10 to all other participants. All proceeds will be donated to charity.
Lucky fans have had the opportunity to bicycle with the drivers and riders that competed at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca last year. Racers such as MAZDASPEED driver Patrick Dempsey and MotoGP riders Casey Stoner, Nicky Hayden and Ben Bostrom have pedaled bicycles with the fans during past race weekends here at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.
