Mobile 1 presents the Grand Prix of Mosport
Muscle Milk Pickett Racing won for the third straight year at
Canadian Tire Motorsport Park with a victory Sunday. Klaus Graf
and Lucas Luhr won in the No. 6 Honda Performance Development
ARX-03a by more than 10 seconds over Dyson Racing’s Chris Dyson
and Guy Smith in their No. 16 Lola-Mazda coupe.
The P2 and GT battles really stole the show. Conquest Endurance’s
Martin Plowman and David Heinemeier-Hansson won their first race
in the No. 37 Morgan-Nissan with Plowman’s late-race drive to
hold off Level 5 Motorsports’ Christophe Bouchut.
In GT, Extreme Speed Motorsports took its first ALMS victory when
the No. 45 Flying Lizard Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 RSR was
excluded in post-race technical inspections. It moved Scott
Sharp, Johannes van Overbeek and the No. 01 Ferrari F458 Italia
into first in class.
Formula 1
Formula 1 Grosser Preis Santander Von Deutschland 2012
Fernando Alonso extended his lead in the Formula One drivers’
world championship yesterday when he drove to victory for Ferrari
in the German Grand Prix.
The Spaniard started from pole position and dominated the 67-lap
race. He finished 3.7 seconds ahead of local hero and defending
champion Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull, who was later handed a
20sec drive-through penalty for passing Jenson Button.
Vettel was handed the penalty for running off the track at a
hairpin exit as he tried to pass McLaren’s Button on the
penultimate lap and dropped back to fifth place, leaving Button
second.
Kimi Raikkonen of Lotus completed the podium. Kamui Kobayashi of
Sauber was fourth with Vettel in fifth.
IndyCar

NHRA Nationals win Sunday.

World Superbike
Brno, Czech Republic
Marco Melandri (BMW Motorrad Motorsport) scored a double today
after winning the second 20-lap race of the weekend at Brno. The
Italian rider made a final pass on long time leader Tom Sykes
(Kawasaki Racing Team) on the final lap and had just enough of a
gap on Sykes on the final few corners to make sure the English
rider would finish second, by only 0.140 seconds.
Carlos Checa (Althea Racing Ducati) had an eventual third place finish with championship leader Max Biaggi (Aprilia Racing) a lonely fourth. Eugene Laverty (Aprilia Racing) won a duel for fifth place with Chaz Davies (ParkinGO MTC Racing Aprilia) and Leon Haslam (BMW Motorrad Motorsport).
In the championship fight Biaggi now has 271.5 points, Melandri has 250.5 and Sykes moved into third place, on 212.5 points. Checa is fourth on 204.5.
