Mid Ohio Sports Car Challenge
Muscle Milk’s Klaus Graf and Lucas Luhr won the American Le Mans Series race Saturday at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.
Dyson Racing’s Chris Dyson and Guy Smith finished second, a lap back in a Lola Mazda.
The winner of the GT class was the Corvette driven by Oliver Gavin and Tommy Milner.

World Superbike

Sylvain Guintoli was declared the winner of an eight lap second Superbike race after the rains fell so hard that three riders fell on the same part of the track and the red flag was waved. Half points were awarded to the top 15 riders. Loris Baz had been in the lead on that lap but he had fallen shortly before, so on the count back he was credited with second.

Third went to long time second place rider Jakub Smrz with Aprilia Racing rider Eugene Laverty, who was 16 seconds behind rain master Guintoli when the flag went out, fourth. Maxime Berger was fifth, Chaz Davies was eventually classified seventh, one place behind late crasher Carlos Checa. Marco Melandri was eighth. The championship points has Biaggi with 274 points, Melandri 263.5 and Tom Sykes 222.5, two points ahead of Checa.

IndyCar
The Honda 200 at Mid-Ohio
Scott Dixon won this one in the pits. Dixon took the lead for good by passing Will Power in pit row on the 57th lap and then held on Sunday to capture his fourth IndyCar title in the last six years at Mid-Ohio.

Dixon, who previously won titles on the winding road course in 2007, ‘09 and ‘11, qualified a disappointing fourth. But he patiently picked off cars until he sped past Power when both pitted just past the midpoint of the 85-lap race.

Power did get a consolation prize despite finishing second: He took over the points lead from Ryan Hunter-Reay, who finished 24th.

Only 28 points separate the top four in the rankings, with Power just two points ahead of Hunter-Reay, who was followed by Helio Castroneves. Dixon moved into fourth place with three races remaining in the season.

NASCAR
Pennsylvania 400, Pocono Raceway
In a race marred by the death of a fan hit by lightning, Jeff Gordon earned his first victory of the season on Sunday, taking advantage of an accident sparked by teammate Jimmie Johnson and going on to win when the race was called because of a downpour preceding the fatal storm.
After the race, Pocono officials said one person died and nine others were injured after a lightning strike in the parking lot behind the grandstand.

Gordon earned his 86th career victory, winning for the first time since September 2011 at Atlanta Motor Speedway to thrust himself into wild-card contention in the Chase for the Sprint Cup championship.

NHRA
O’Reilly Auto Parts Northwest Nationals
For the first time in NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series history, two female drivers claimed trophies at the same event. Courtney Force powered her Traxxas Ford Mustang Funny Car to the winner’s circle for the first time in her career and Eric Enders earned her second career Pro Stock victory in her GK Racing Chevy Cobalt at the O’Reily Auto Parts NHRA Northwest Nationals. Steve Torrence also earned his third career Top Fuel victory at the event.
