Monterey Off Road Cycling Association to Host Halloween Twilight Ride
Broomsticks Optional, Helmets Mandatory
The Monterey Off Road Cycling Association (MORCA) will be hosting a Halloween-inspired Twilight Cycling ride at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca on Wednesday, October 20 from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m.
Circuit riders will experience the thrill of riding Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca as the race track includes a challenging 300-foot climb and an awe-inspiring descent down the world-famous Corkscrew. The Twilight Ride is on the paved race track and no part of the ride will be off road.
The cost is $10 per rider and all riders must have a helmet. The Twilight Rides are informal and the 2.238-mile track will be open to all levels of cyclists, including treats and prizes for costumed riders. There will be a road race at 6:00 p.m. with prizes for the fastest mid-race sprinters and the overall winner. For the casual rider there will be a kids race, costume bike parade, a slow race (How slow can a rider go without putting their foot down) and BBQ potluck dinner with free hotdogs. The grill chefs will BBQ whatever the riders bring for dinner.
Light & Motion will be at the Twilight Ride to assist those who are scared of the dark with bike lights to borrow for the Twilight Ride. Light & Motion has been pioneering state-of-the-art portable lighting systems for 20 years. In 2008 they launched a line of LED bicycle lights, the lightest, brightest and most reliable lights available worldwide, which are designed and built right here on the Monterey Peninsula.
