Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca to Host May 18 Twilight Ride
Just hours before the professional cyclists of the Amgen Tour of California roar through the area, bicyclists of all skill levels can test out Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca for themselves.
The Twilight Ride will be held Wednesday, May 18 from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. with a five lap circuit race starting at 6 p.m. The rides/races are always informal and the 11 turn 2.238 mile course is open to all levels of cyclists. The cost is $10 per rider.
The 2011 Amgen Tour of California is the largest cycling event in America which challenges the world’s top professional cycling teams to compete along a demanding course over eight days.
Bicycle enthusiasts can get a sneak preview of a segment of stage five of the race which starts Thursday, May 19 at 9:15 a.m. in Seaside, with the peloton heading east through the decommissioned Fort Ord into Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.
This ride will be hosted by the Naval Post Graduate School Cycling Club.
2011 Twilight Rides are scheduled for June 15, July 20, August 10, September 14, October 19, November 16 and December 7.
