Dan Gurney’s career at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca spans over 40 years of winning as a driver, manufacturer and team owner, starting with winning the first professional race ever held at the track – the 1960 Pacific Grand Prix. But now Gurney changes his helmet for a headset and is selling tickets for the 2010 race season.

When fans call to purchase tickets, the first voice they hear is “Hello, thank you for calling Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. I’m Dan Gurney.” Gurney goes on to talk about the upcoming race season on both two wheels with the MotoGP World Championships and four wheels with sports cars, both new and historic.

“Gurney not only invented podium champagne spraying, the wickerbill and full face helmets, he is still the only American to win an F1 race in a car he constructed,” said Gill Campbell, CEO/general manager for Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. “More importantly, Dan is the first Legend of Laguna Seca and it is a great honor to have his voice greet our fans.”  Gurney was inducted during the U.S. Sports Car Invitational May 2007, where his son Alex was driving a Daytona Prototype in the Rolex Grand-Am Sports Car race.
