Daytona marked the start of an exciting season for the Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli in North American that has been running for over 20 years on the most beautiful circuits in the world with gentlemen drivers at the wheel of cars built in our factory in Maranello, Italy. The series returns to Monterey May 16-18 for its own challenge of the tricky Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca circuit.
Think of three exotic car companies that have long filled the dreams, and walls, of little boys around the world. It’s not hard to imagine that those likely marques originate near one another in Italy.
It’s the year of tre in Monterey as Italian exotics – Lamborghini, Ferrari and Maserati – showcase their remarkable pedigrees at three separate events held at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. And each one will assuredly bring smiles to visitors of all ages who are strolling through the race paddock or watching from hillsides and grandstands.
The Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli is one of the most popular one-make series, in part because it brings together complete track novices and those who already have competition experience. The former have their own Coppa Shell with a separate classification and final title, while the latter race in the Trofeo Pirelli, also with a title up for grabs, so as to avoid a one-sided contest and assure a good show, from expert competitors racing at a very high level, as well as gentleman drivers who can thus compete on equal terms.
