Texan Ben Spies chose to kick off Yamaha’s 50th Anniversary of Grand Prix Racing in style by delivering a flawless performance at the Assen TT to claim his first ever MotoGP race win. Spies had been on form all weekend delivering consistent fast race pace in all sessions whether wet or dry and been beaten to pole by a mere 0.009 seconds by Marco Simoncelli.

Presented by E3, a leader in action sports, motorsports and stunt entertainment, the featured stunt riders are Aaron Colton (Ducati), Chris “Teach” McNeil (BMW), J Beats (Kawasaki) and Bill Dixon (Yamaha). These riders are the ambassadors, driving forces and main reasons behind the rise in popularity and exposure for the sport in the mainstream over the past few years. Colton, McNeil and Dixon have a long history of performing at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca and J Beats will be making his debut at the world-renowned facility.
Experience the thrill of pedaling Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca alongside MotoGP and AMA riders with a twilight bicycle ride coinciding with the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix featuring MotoGP World Championship.
The ride takes place on Wednesday, July 20 from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. and is free to Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix ticket holders and $10 to other participants. All proceeds will be donated to charity.

2011 marks a very special moment in two wheeled motorsport as the 50th Anniversary of World Championship Grand Prix racing for Yamaha. As part of a series of ongoing activities to celebrate this landmark Yamaha Factory Racing will run a special livery, the ‘YZR-M1 WGP50th Anniversary Edition’ for the Assen TT and Laguna Seca races.
Reigning MotoGP World Champion Jorge Lorenzo and 2010 Rookie of the Year Ben Spies will unveil the livery at a special event on Wednesday 22nd June close to the Assen circuit
