The normal Wednesday commute to work for the residents of downtown Barcelona was transformed this morning as MotoGP came alive on the doorstep of the iconic Sagrada Familia in the heart of the city. The area was brought to a standstill as commuters, tourists and local workers alike were witness to a personal MotoGP grid experience courtesy of Yamaha Factory Racing and reigning World Champion Jorge Lorenzo.
Race fans can rest assured that all the thrills, spills and excitement of the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix will continue at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca through at least the 2014 race season. No other road course in the U.S. challenges these world champion riders with such a dynamic, heart pounding combination of 11 turns, dramatic elevation changes of up to 300 feet and the plunging blind Corkscrew turn that drops an equivalent of ten stories.

The ride takes place on Wednesday, July 20 from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. and is free to Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix ticket holders and $10 to other participants. All proceeds will be donated to charity.

Spies had been on form all weekend delivering consistent fast race pace in all sessions whether wet or dry and been beaten to pole by a mere 0.009 seconds by Marco Simoncelli.
