An automobile museum that springs to life is one way to describe the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion. It is an international gathering of rarely seen race cars that spans decades of racing history by returning them to the race track to compete as they once did. Entering its 38th year of vintage racing, the event is a cornerstone with the prestigious Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance of the famed Monterey Classic Car Week that annually attracts thousands to the picturesque Monterey peninsula for events, auctions and a sundry of activities.
In GRAND-AM Road Racing, the Rolex Sports Car Series features Daytona Prototypes and production-based GT cars running simultaneously. The Daytona Prototype (DP) category has revolutionized sports car racing with ample battles at the front of the field and close finishes in practically every race. Like the DP class that has redefined prototype racing, the GT class has done the same for high-performance, production-based sports car racing.
An unprecedented gathering of Porsche historic and modern race cars from around the world, and many of the famous drivers who piloted them to victory, will descend on Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca for three days of racing, story-telling and camaraderie at the Porsche Rennsport Reunion IV on October 14-16, 2011.
Held every three years, this is the first time Porsche Rennsport Reunion has been held on the West Coast. Be sure to plan ahead, as this will be Porsche paradise for enthusiasts.
