Sir Stirling Moss, OBE is traveling to Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca for the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion to race in his recently acquired 1961 Porsche RS 61 Sports Racing Spyder for the first time – a sister car to the one he raced in the Targa Florio. Sir Stirling’s return to racing after his serious fall down an elevator shaft in March is testament to his remarkable conditioning regimen. His return will be in race group 1A against an impressive list of Porsches, Listers, Lotus’ and Maseratis on August 13-15.
The fields are set for Sunday’s AMA Pro Road Racing National Guard SuperBike and Daytona SportBike races here at the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix. In National Guard SuperBike, Ben Bostrom, riding the Pat Clark Motorsports Yamaha, took his first pole of the 2010 season with a lap of 1:24367/95.497 MPH. Bostrom had posted the fastest time in the morning qualifying session but went slightly quicker in the afternoon.
Yamaha Motor Corporation U.S. executives announced today at the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix that they have agreed to renew their sponsorship as the Official Motorcycle of Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca and the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix.
A sun-soaked Laguna Seca welcomed the MotoGP paddock to American soil today, where Jorge Lorenzo looked on good form to finish the opening session in second and his Fiat Yamaha team-mate Valentino Rossi made a solid start for sixth position. The Fiat Yamaha M1s are running in a special livery here to celebrate the forthcoming launch of the Fiat 500 car in the United States, which features the faces of 500 fans on both bikes and the riders’ leathers.
The AMA Pro SuperSport riders put on quite a show today in the action packed 18 lap race here at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca during the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix event. Riding his LTD Racing Yamaha with an engine that hadn’t turned a lap until the warm-up lap, Huntley Nash endured a red flag race stoppage and relentless pressure from Top Gun rider Tyler O’Hara and went on to take his second career AMA Pro SuperSport win.
