The colorful sights, sounds and “untold” stories from this year’s Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion will be broadcast nationally Saturday, October 11 at 10 a.m. ET on FOX Sports 1. The one-hour special goes in-depth into America’s premier historic car race held annually on the scenic Monterey peninsula.
After a successful inaugural season the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship announced that it will return to Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca next year for a May 1-3, 2015 race weekend.
“Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca is one of the finest road tracks in the world,” says Gill Campbell, CEO/general manager. “A perfect venue for the return of the TUDOR Championship. Credit is truly due to the hard working volunteers who put on our events and the loyal fans who continue to support sports car racing in America.”
The heart of historic downtown Monterey will be transformed into an outdoor motorsports museum when historic race cars line Alvarado Street between 5 and 7 p.m. on Friday, August 8 when Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca kicks of the 2014 Monterey Classic Car Week activities.
To support the 100th anniversary celebration of Maserati at the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion August 14-17, noted Italian car collector Lawrence Auriana is sending not only key race and passenger cars to Monterey, but also a vintage 1952 Fiat 642 Maserati race car transporter.
An example of arguably the most famous and sought-after classic race car ever – the 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO – will be previewed by Bonhams at the Monterey Pre-Reunion August 9 and 10. The classic race car, of which only 39 were constructed, will be shown in the Bonhams hospitality area at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca where the historic car racing is taking place.
Hospitality packages are still available to enjoy the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion in comfort and style. See 550 historic race cars competing wheel-to-wheel like they once did in their respective era, such as the thundering Can-Am and Trans-Am cars, from the comfortable confines of a hospitality suite.
Here’s a selection of what’s still available before they sell out:
Returning to their familiar home where they ran unbridled in the ‘60s and early ‘70s, thundering Can-Am cars will be a popular group this year at the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion. Held August 14-17 at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, the event is a collection of 550 authentic and period-correct race cars from nearly every decade of motorsports.
International and American riders competing in this weekend’s GEICO Motorcycle U.S. Round of eni FIM World Superbike Championship, and AMA Pro Racing support classes will be further protected by Airfence deployed by the Roadracing World Action Fund (RWAF).
The Airfence technology is an invaluable safety feature for motorcycle racers. It serves to alleviate potential incidents and allows riders to go all out in their pursuit of victories and championships.
Before the on-track action commences, 10 riders competing in this weekend’s eni FIM Superbike World Championship, GEICO Motorcycle U.S. Round enjoyed a behind-the-scenes visit to the renowned Monterey Bay Aquarium.
