The sounds of motorcycles will again roar through the central California hillsides as the eni FIM Superbike World Championship returns to Monterey July 11-13, 2014 for its only U.S. appearance.
“When World Superbike returned to Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca this season we agreed to a three year contract,” says Gill Campbell, Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca CEO/general manager. “We were very pleased with the first year and look forward to building upon its success.”
This season truly emphasizes the essence of motorsports. “From the inaugural TUDOR United SportsCar Championship, with state of the art endurance sports cars, to Ferrari Racing Days, a welcome return of World Superbike and the prestigious Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion, it will be a dream season for everyone,” says Gill Campbell, Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca CEO/general manager. “With the SCCA Runoffs closing out the season in October; fans will have the opportunity to see the very best in sports car racing.”
Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca is hosting a Toy Drive to benefit the Monterey Peninsula Salvation Army and as an extra incentive, all donors who bring a new, unwrapped toy for a child up to the age of 12 will receive a free ticket to the opening Friday of the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship on May 2, 2014.
More than $1,500 and a barrel of donated food was raised this morning at the inaugural Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot held at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. One hundred percent of the proceeds raised go to the Food Bank for Monterey County.
The $1,500 raised enables the Food Bank to purchase $7,500 worth of food for families in need.
It was an international affair, as well. Visitors from Japan, the Netherlands, England and across the country who were visiting Monterey for the holiday weekend enjoyed the experience.
