Yamaha is pleased to announce that Former World Champions Kenny Roberts and Eddie Lawson will participate in a very special fan lap promotion during a scheduled break in practice and qualifying for the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix on Friday, July 22.
Up to 200 lucky fans will have the opportunity to ride with the world champions for several laps around the world-renowned raceway as part of a special weekend ticket promotional package offered through Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.
Race fans can rest assured that all the thrills, spills and excitement of the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix will continue at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca through at least the 2014 race season. No other road course in the U.S. challenges these world champion riders with such a dynamic, heart pounding combination of 11 turns, dramatic elevation changes of up to 300 feet and the plunging blind Corkscrew turn that drops an equivalent of ten stories.
Two Monterey Bay icons, Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca and The Monterey County Herald, have entered into a first-time publishing partnership to produce the souvenir program for the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix. The 100-plus page, full-color program will serve as a comprehensive source for everything happening throughout the Monterey Peninsula when the world’s best motorcycle riders compete over the July 22-24 weekend.
The normal Wednesday commute to work for the residents of downtown Barcelona was transformed this morning as MotoGP came alive on the doorstep of the iconic Sagrada Familia in the heart of the city. Spies had been on form all weekend delivering consistent fast race pace in all sessions whether wet or dry and been beaten to pole by a mere 0.009 seconds by Marco Simoncelli.

Presented by E3, a leader in action sports, motorsports and stunt entertainment, the featured stunt riders are Aaron Colton (Ducati), Chris “Teach” McNeil (BMW), J Beats (Kawasaki) and Bill Dixon (Yamaha). These riders are the ambassadors, driving forces and main reasons behind the rise in popularity and exposure for the sport in the mainstream over the past few years. Colton, McNeil and Dixon have a long history of performing at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca and J Beats will be making his debut at the world-renowned facility.

2011 marks a very special moment in two wheeled motorsport as the 50th Anniversary of World Championship Grand Prix racing for Yamaha. As part of a series of ongoing activities to celebrate this landmark Yamaha Factory Racing will run a special livery, the ‘YZR-M1 WGP50th Anniversary Edition’ for the Assen TT and Laguna Seca races.
Reigning MotoGP World Champion Jorge Lorenzo and 2010 Rookie of the Year Ben Spies will unveil the livery at a special event on Wednesday 22nd June close to the Assen circuit
