GRAND-AM’s top-tier Rolex Sports Car Series has established itself as one of the most competitive professional road racing championship in North America. For 2013, the Rolex Series expands to a three-class format, allowing the entrance of new cars and technologies in the newly formed “GX” class.
The Daytona Prototype category that was launched as the series’ flagship class in 2003 has attracted the attention of superstar drivers and universally recognized teams through its extremely raceable and relatively affordable format. The DP class moved into a new phase in 2012 with the introduction of the third generation prototype.
Like the DP class that has redefined prototype sports car racing, the GT class has done the same for high-performance, production-based sports car racing. With an eye toward the cost-containment and close competition, the GT category provides a stable battleground for the world’s top automobile manufacturers. Famed European automobile builders Ferrari and Audi entered the division in 2012 with new cars built specifically for the Rolex Series. The production-based GX class was added to feature cars and technologies not currently involved in the Rolex Series.
Rules are being developed to allow for the exploration of a wide variety of alternative technologies and alternative fuels. This could include turbocharged engines; fuels other than gasoline, such as clean diesels; and hybrid powertrains.
The GRAND-AM Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge, featuring straight-from-the-showroom American muscle cars and the hottest imports, is also back in 2013 for its 13th season of competition under the GRAND-AM umbrella. The Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge routinely features some of the largest fields anywhere in the world.

The Governing Committee will evaluate each car entry to examine its historical significance, race provenance and period-correctness before making a final determination. The deadline to submit a car for consideration is January 31, 2012.

Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca hosts The American Le Mans Series (ALMS) for its 15th and final season of sports car racing.
ALMS is the Global Leader in Green Racing, its technology-intensive race cars showcase tomorrow’s automotive advancements as the Series encourages automotive manufacturers to test their latest technical innovations on the race track. Featuring multiple classes of high-tech sports cars competing together in each race, ALMS provides a dynamic that offers constant passing and on-track battles throughout.
There are three classes of high-tech, high-speed Le Mans prototypes (P1/P2/LMP) and two for GT cars (GT/GTC) from Acura, Porsche, Mazda, Corvette, Aston Martin, Ford, Dodge, BMW, Jaguar and Ferrari competing in a four-hour race taking competitors from daylight to dusk, pushing drivers’ and crews’ mental and physical abilities.
