Rea to Throw First Pitch for Oakland A’s on July 5
Six World SBK riders to interact with fans and media at baseball game

Reigning World SBK champion Jonathan Rea has excelled during pressure-packed situations on the race track. On Wednesday, July 5, he will be asked to perform under new circumstances when the rider of the Monster Energy Kawasaki stands on the pitcher’s mound in front of tens of thousands of fans at the Oakland Alameda County Coliseum to deliver the ceremonial opening pitch before the Oakland Athletics host the Chicago White Sox in Major League Baseball competition.

The pitch occurs approximately 15 minutes before the 12:35 p.m. start of the game. Beginning at 10:30 a.m., bikes will be displayed at Championship Plaza just outside of the stadium with an autograph session that will take place featuring Rea and a provisional lineup of riders that includes Chaz Davies, Leon Camier, Stefan Bradl, Jake Gagne, and Jordi Torres.

The event takes place two days in advance of the Motul FIM Superbike World Championship GEICO U.S. Round featuring MotoAmerica, the only stop in North or South America for the international series. Other promotions occurring on July 5 include Cycle Gear Bike Night at the Cycle Gear store in Gilroy, Calif., beginning at 5 p.m. and Twilight Cycling held at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca hosted by DC-10 from 5:30-7:30 p.m.
