Open Test Sept. 10 for Pirelli World Challenge, Mazda Road to Indy

Test sessions for all seven classes of the Pirelli World Challenge and the three Mazda Road to Indy classes are scheduled for Thurs., Sept. 10, in preparation for the season finale event for both series Sept. 11-13 at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.

The full day of testing, which begins at 8:00 a.m. and concludes at 5:00 p.m., is open to the public at no charge, including access to the paddock.

Each of the Mazda Road to Indy classes (Indy Lights Presented by Cooper Tires, Pro Mazda Championship Presented by Cooper Tires, and Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship Powered by Mazda) will have a morning and afternoon session. In Pirelli World Challenge, morning and afternoon sessions are scheduled for GT/GTA, GTS and TC-TCA-TCB. There will also be an hour break from noon to 1 p.m. for media and VIP hot lap rides.

The Pirelli World Challenge features more than 80 cars from more than 15 manufacturers including Acura, Aston Martin, Audi, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Ferrari, Fiat, Ford, Honda, Kia, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, Mini, Lamborghini, Nissan, McLaren and Porsche that are battling wheel-to-wheel. The competition consists of seven classes of vehicles: grand touring (GT); grand touring amateur (GTA); grand touring sport (GTS); grand touring Cup (GT-Cup); touring car (TC); touring car A-spec (TCA); and touring car B-spec (TCB).

The Mazda Road to Indy is the only driver development program of its type in the world and will host a trio of doubleheader races in its season finale to crown champions in Indy Lights Presented by Cooper Tires, the Pro Mazda Championship Presented by Cooper Tires and the Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship Powered by Mazda. All series feature Mazda-powered open-wheel Indy car-style chassis on Cooper Tires. The competition has been intense as the “stars of tomorrow” compete for more than $2.3 million in scholarship and year-end awards from Mazda and series partners to advance to the next level of the ladder system.

Advance ticket sales for the Pirelli World Challenge/Mazda Road to Indy, Sept. 11-13, are available until Sept. 10 at 4 p.m. Gate prices take effect after that. Hospitality and parking sales will end on Monday, September 7, 2015 at 4 p.m. After 4 p.m. on Sept. 7, only General Admission and Paddock Tickets are available to purchase online and print-at-home (Ticket Fast) on chosen event date before 7 a.m. All Premier and Reserved Camping must be ordered by phone.

Advance tickets range from $35 for a Friday-only ticket to $90 for a three-day General Admission &Paddock ticket. Children 12 and under are free with paid adult. VIP suite packages and camping sites are also available. For more information, click HERE or call 831.242.8200.
