Ferrari Challenge Returns to Monterey May 16-18
Daytona marked the start of an exciting season for the Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli in North American that has been running for over 20 years on the most beautiful circuits in the world with gentlemen drivers at the wheel of cars built in our factory in Maranello, Italy. The series returns to Monterey May 16-18 for its own challenge of the tricky Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca circuit.
Once again, the Challenge is run in three geographically diverse championships: Europe, Asia Pacific and North America. The 2014 Challenge began on a track with particularly close links to Ferrari’s history. At Daytona, Prancing Horse cars have taken 10 outright wins including this year’s GT-D victory. The 1967 race, became one of the iconic moments in Ferrari’s history that gave rise to the name Daytona being bestowed on the 365 GTB/4 road car.
The calendar for the North American series is made up of eight rounds and will end in December with the traditional Finali Mondiali. This year marks the first time it is being held outside Europe, at the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi, which is also home to the Ferrari World themed amusement park. This is where the top invited drivers from Ferrari Challenge North America will test their mettle against other leaders from Asia Pacific and Europe for the overall 2014 title.
