Continental Tire Monterey Grand Prix Readies for its Return Sept. 21-24
The Continental Tire Monterey Grand Prix featuring AMERICA’S TIRE 250 comes to Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca on September 21-24. Fans anxious to see great racing from the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge will be delighted by the prototypes and grand touring cars battling it out on the Corkscrew during the penultimate race of the season.
Favorites to gun for the AMERICA’S TIRE 250 win on Sunday are brothers and decorated racers Jordan and Ricky Taylor in the Cadillac DPi-V.R owned by father Wayne. In addition to leading the Prototype standings in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, they were co-drivers with Max Angelelli and NASCAR star Jeff Gordon during their 24 Hours of Daytona win earlier this year.
The IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge drivers won’t be the only competitors seeking glory on the Monterey Peninsula. The Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America and Battery Tender Mazda MX-5 Cup Presented by BF Goodrich Tires series will likewise be prominent during a full weekend of racing action.
Fan activities include autograph sessions and a grid walk on Saturday where fans will be able to step foot on the iconic 11-turn, 2.238-mile course. A paddock filled with cutting edge sports cars and a bustling marketplace will create a fun-filled atmosphere for the whole family.
Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca is once again honoring the men and women who serve or have served in the United States Armed Forces by hosting Military Appreciation Day on Saturday, September 23. One military ID for any past or active member of the United States Armed Forces gets them plus one guest free admission into the track and paddock, which was built on Fort Ord property in 1957. Additionally, children 12 and under get in free, so those who serve our country are encouraged to bring their entire family to Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca for a thrilling day of racing action.
