media outlet will typically receive one parking

A7. All media credentials must be individually
obtained from the media registrar located at the Embassy Suites
hotel in Seaside. Photo identification is required, and a
liability and risk waiver must be signed before the credential is

high-tech sports cars competing together in each race – a dynamic

We’re only days away before some of the world’s premier athlete
drivers arrive into Monterey for the six hour endurance race -
the ModSpace American Le Mans Monterey, presented by Patron. As
the season winds down, the race for overall top honors remains
strong. This is Round eight of a nine race season.
The smile he so easily wears belies the competitive spirit of
Bryan Sellers. Below the surface of the Braselton, GA-driver
simmers a passion forged through a lifetime of racing. Once the
trademark orange and black helmet goes on and the once easily
approachable driver slides behind the wheel of the No. 17 Team
Falken Tire Porsche 911 GT3 RSR, one of sports car racing’s true
“nice guys” makes the switch to one of its fiercest competitors.
He is a Dr. Jekyll in the Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca paddock and a
Mr. Hyde on the track.
Anticipation for the first-ever West coast appearance of Porsche
Rennsport Reunion IV October 14-16 at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca
is running high. Complementing the more than 350 of the rarest
Porsche race cars competing on the track will be an unprecedented
field of 800-plus Porsches staged in the traditional car corral
area. The demand is so swift and the support from the Porsche
Club of America so positive that an additional parking area with
limited space is being designated as another Porsche car corral.

CORE autosport has secured sportscar veteran and former 24 Hours
of Le Mans winner Andy Wallace for the next round of American Le

Yamaha Motor Racing Headquarters hosted a very special guest
yesterday as three-time World Champion Wayne Rainey arrived at
the team’s base in Gerno di Lesmo, near Milan. The legendary
Grand Prix rider spent the day with employees of Yamaha Motor
Racing, Yamaha Motor Italy and Yamaha Motor R&D Europe.
Rainey officially opened the Wayne Rainey Boardroom at the
facility before taking a tour of the site. He was joined by
current riders Jorge Lorenzo and Ben Spies, the three taking time
to sign autographs and pose for pictures with the many gathered
employees.
In case you missed the roar and rumble of more than 550 historic
and authentic race cars participating in last month’s Rolex
Monterey Motorsports Reunion at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, now’s
your chance. Speed TV crews captured the colorful sights and
sounds of this automotive museum springing to life and will
present it to viewers beginning on Sunday, September 11 at 12:30
PDT.
Audi has announced its commitment to build a version of its
successful R8 LMS race car for the GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car
Series, adding another major manufacturer to its highly
competitive production-based GT class.
GRAND-AM has worked with Audi on the project since August 2009,
making several visits to Germany to meet with the manufacturer.
The car is expected to begin testing in the fall, with its
competition debut expected at the 50th anniversary running of the
Rolex 24 At Daytona on Jan. 28-29, 2012.
By the late 1950s it was obvious to Porsche that the 356, which
was the company’s sole product line since 1948, needed to be
updated. Replacing it was necessary, yet perilous. Who knew that
the eventual replacement for the 356, the 911, would surpass its
predecessor in sales, longevity and glory? Or that it would be so
fanatically cherished by its owners that Porsche hasn’t been
allowed to replace it. Or that the Company would be introducing
its latest iteration all the way in 2011?
Every second in the pits is time lost on the race track . . .
teamwork counts.
Pit stops in the ModSpace American Le Mans Monterey, presented by
Patrón play a significant role in the race’s outcome. There are
very specific rules and a unique style to pit stops, practices
that trace back in the history of Le Mans-style racing. Two pit
stops are typically made during sprint races (2:45). In longer
races, such as the one at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, race cars
will usually pit about every 50-60 minutes.
The Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion has earned its stripes as
the premier historic automobile racing event in the U.S., and
motorsports enthusiasts from around the world have taken notice.
They come not only by the tens of thousands to watch the
sentimental past of car racing come roaring back to life, but
also by the hundreds to personally strap into the driver’s seat
and test the legendary turns and challenging elevation changes of
Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, where the annual event is synchronized
every third week in August with Monterey Peninsula’s Classic Car
Week.
Cobra, one of the most recognized and iconic names in the
motorsports and automotive worlds, will be the featured marque at
next year’s Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion on August 17-19,
2012. Today’s announcement was made at the closing awards
ceremony by Gill Campbell, CEO/general manager of Mazda Raceway
Laguna Seca who was accompanied by the growl of a Cobra driving
on stage.
The roar of vintage cars racing today at Mazda Raceway Laguna
Seca was like the sound of music to thousands of motor racing and
historic automobile enthusiasts attending this year’s Rolex
Monterey Motorsports Reunion. Racing took place in nine of 17
groups, representing just over half of the 550 cars entered,
which can fairly be said to represent the full, rich lineage of
motor racing in this country and abroad. (The remaining eight
race groups compete Sunday.)
When fans at the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion aren’t
watching racing, they have plenty to explore, including the race
paddocks, shops in the Yamaha Marketplace and special display,
such as this year’s museum-quality Jaguar Heritage Display, which
expertly chronicles the history of Jaguar and the development of
its most important cars.
One of Rock and Roll’s most enthusiastic lead singers on stage is
the rock band AC/DC’s Brian Johnson. His enthusiasm intensifies,
however, when he puts on his driver’s suit and climbs into his
1965 Lola T-70 like he will do tomorrow at the Rolex Monterey
Motorsports Reunion, where 550 historic automobiles are competing
in 17 groups that run the gamut from Pre-1940 Sports Racing and
Touring Cars to 1981-1989 FIA Mfg. Championship & IMSA GTPs.
One of the feature races, group 6A, of the Rolex Monterey
Motorsports Reunion showcases the ultra-rare and considered to be
the most desired and admired Ferraris of all-time – the Ferrari
250 GTO.
For those who love Jaguars and know their ABCs, this year’s Rolex
Monterey Motorsports Reunion is promising a thrilling if not
profoundly educational experience. Jaguar C-, D- and E Types as
well as XK120s were among 550 cars practicing today at Mazda
Raceway Laguna Seca for the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion,
which has Jaguar as its special marque and starts tomorrow with
qualifying sessions that will set the grid for weekend racing
among 17 groups of historic automobiles.
Part of the celebrations at this weekend’s Rolex Monterey
Motorsports Reunion is a unique display of vintage dragsters,
commemorating the National Hot Rod Association’s 60th
anniversary. Organized by Kingdon Drags, which itself
celebrates its storied past with the 6th annual Return to Kingdon
in September, the dragster display will feature a variety of drag
racing vehicles from the ‘60s.
Monterey Classic Car Week rolled onto the Monterey Peninsula with
a variety of events and racing, striking the proper chord for the
upcoming week. Last Friday, Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca teamed up
with the Fisherman’s Wharf Association for the Monterey
Motorsports Reunion Classic, presented by Jaguar. The free event
included historic race and sports cars, live music and a raffle
featuring prizes from the raceway and wharf businesses.
Bob Tullius, the driver who helped re-establish Jaguar’s name in
North American motorsports and took the Jaguar factory back to Le
Mans for the first time in 31 years during the mid-1970s through
the ’80s, will be a featured guest at this year’s Rolex Monterey
Motorsports Reunion, which will take place Friday August 19
through Sunday, August 21. On Saturday, Tullius will address a
host of vintage car racing enthusiasts during “A
Picnic with Jaguar” to be held on the Center Lawn of Mazda
Raceway Laguna Seca in Monterey, Calif.
How do you narrow down a list to 550 cars from more than 800
applicants, each with historically-significant race cars? That’s
an arduous task for anybody, but this year’s Governing Committee
was up to the challenge and the results are in the paddock before
your very eyes…and ears.
More than 550 extraordinary race cars will amass on August 19 -
21 to confront one of America’s most challenging race courses:
Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in Monterey, Calif. The 2.238
mile road course with its 11 turns and 300 foot elevation changes
is as demanding for drivers as it is thrilling for spectators,
who get a panoramic view of racing action from the grandstands
and viewing fields.
Monterey’s historic Fisherman’s Wharf will set the stage for the
kick off of Classic Car Week with the Monterey Motorsports
Reunion Classic, presented by Jaguar, Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca
and the Fisherman’s Wharf Association.
The collection of more than 550 historic vehicles gathered in the
race paddock will be complemented by the broadest range of
activities ever experienced in the Yamaha Marketplace at the
annual Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion Aug. 19-21.
Monterey’s historic Fisherman’s Wharf will set the stage for the
kick off of Classic Car Week with the Monterey Motorsports
Reunion Classic, presented by Jaguar, Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca
and the Fisherman’s Wharf Association.
Porsche Motorsport of Stuttgart, Germany, today announced that
its ground-breaking Porsche 911 GT3 R Hybrid Version 2.0 will
make its racing debut on the West Coast on September 17 at Mazda
Raceway Laguna Seca.
Time is ticking away to purchase advance tickets to the Rolex
Monterey Motorsports Reunion, celebrating the rich history of
Jaguar. Purchase your tickets before 4 p.m. PST on Monday, August
15 and enjoy a $20 per ticket savings.
See more than 550 historic race cars and an unprecedented
gathering of Jaguar C-Types, D-Types and E-Types in the Jaguar
Heritage Display.
With the rolling landscape and park benches, you might think you
were in Bavaria, which is exactly what Porsche Cars North America
